Amazon Offeing Customized, 3-D Printed Products

NEW YORK — Amazon said Monday that it has started selling 3-D printed customizable objects like iPhone cases, jewelry and figurines on the online retailer’s website.

Amazon’s 3-D product store will offer more than 200 print on-demand products that can be customized by material, size, styles and color variations. The moves come as organizations ranging from libraries to retailers adopt quickly evolving 3-D printing technology. Recently eBay launched its own 3-D printing store via an iPhone app called eBay Exact.

“The introduction of our 3-D printed products store suggests the beginnings of a shift in online retail — that manufacturing can be more nimble to provide an immersive customer experience,” said Petra Schindler-Carter, director for Amazon Marketplace sales.

Amazon is offering design templates for items and a “personalization widget” to help shoppers customize their items.

circles MSM Article

Circles are awesome!

Think about how many wonderful things in nature and in our everyday life, remind us of circles and spheres:

  • the earth, continuously pulled into a spherical shape by gravity;
  • the moon, mysterious and romantic, the only other celestial body on which humans have set foot;
  • the pattern of drops hitting the water of a lake;
  • concentric circles in landscape architecture;
  • crop circles; mathematical fractals;
  • spirals, pirouettes, donuts, footballs, vinyl records…

The list is endless!

Let’s now transfer these characteristics to other concepts, such as: literary circles, social circles and the most sought after “spherical concept” of our modern times: Social Media Circles, not solely intended as circles in the “Google sense”…

When we interact online, sharing news…

The world’s first 3D-printed wireless earphones

Atmel | Bits & Pieces

OwnPhones – which recently launched on Kickstarter – is working to employ 3D printing to develop the world’s first wireless earbuds tailored to a wearer’s ear.

“Ears are like fingerprints – each one is unique, so it is time that consumers were able to get earbuds that actually fit their ears properly,” Founder and CEO Itamar Jobani explained to CNET.  The San Diego-based startup has set out to establish a culture in which individuals can customize their personalized earbuds with up to 10,000 different combinations of colors, styles, and sizes.

In order to tailor the fit to a specific customer’s ear, OwnPhones uses a smartphone app that enables the wearer to take a 3D model of their ear. Once captured, the startup analyzes that video data to create a 3D-printed mold of the user’s ear, which allows for an unprecedented fit along with an innumerable series of customizable options.

Right now, the company offers…

#AnAdvertADay #Day62

10 months, 300 pages and 12,000 products later, the world’s favourite furnishing giant gets that one mega marketing tool that it fearlessly spends 70% of its’ annual marketing budget on. In 2013, the number of IKEA catalogues printed(208 million copies) outnumbered that of the Holy Bible.

IKEA visits around 1,000 customers at home every year to find out how people really live at home – how much space do they have, what styles do they prefer? In order to show solutions in a way people can relate to, the catalogue is divided by activities you can do with the IKEA range – tips and ideas on how to solve specific needs and dreams. It’s about the way people live and how IKEA products can improve their lives.

The catalogue evolves each year with images getting more spectacular, technology being integrated and ideas going beyond regular furnishing solutions. For 2014…
